Julian of Norwich was an anchoress, walled into a cell beside a church, and the first writer in English we can identify with confidence as a woman. She receives this sentence in a vision after she has asked, hard, how sin can exist. It is not a denial of the harm. It is a claim about the end of it. She spent decades writing the longer text, still turning the sentence over.
